IBM produced a video, above, about their experts' visit to Louisville, as part of the Smarter Cities Challenge. It provides an overview of the concepts that were presented at a press briefing recently, involving IBM and city officials. Take a look and let me know what you think. For my part, I am still struggling to understand how, specifically, Louisville might take advantage of their brains to reduce asthma attacks locally. In other words, what specific programs or initiatives might come out of this effort, and how they will help people the tens of thousands of people in Louisville with asthma.

I hope to be reading the group's detailed report soon, and maybe that will clear things up a bit.

What I am most interested to learn about next is the results from another group's study involving asthma inhalers with GPS tracking sensors. These sensors will inform the city about where and when study participants are having asthma attacks.

That's the Asthmapolis project. And it's in the data collection stage now. Stay tuned.
