<p>International Business Machines soared, buoying the Dow Jones Industrial Average to put the blue-chip measure on track for its ninth gain in 10 days.</p><p>The Dow tacked on 44 points, or 0.3%, to 13756 midmorning, lifted singlehandedly by gains at IBM. The blue-chip technology giant pushed the price-weighted index up 79 points alone, though those gains were offset by other components' declines.</p><p>The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index lost three points, or 0.2%, to 1490, and the Nasdaq Composite rose eight points, or 0.3%, to 3151.</p><p>Leading the gains were technology companies.
