<p>Karachi: Karachiites were among the many other people of the country to witness the year's first lunar eclipse late on Thursday night and early Friday morning.</p><p>According to the director of the Climate Date Processing Centre (CDPC) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Nadeem Shah, the penumbral eclipse of the moon began at 11:04pm local time on Thursday, whereas a partial eclipse could be seen by 12:52am on Friday. The peak of the partial eclipse was at 1:09am and ended by 1:23am.</p><p>The partial eclipse of the moon was also visible from Africa, Europe and Asia (except the north east), Antarctica and Australia. It could also be seen from the eastern parts of South America at the time of moonrise, with the partial eclipse already in progress, he said.</p><p>There will be a total of five eclipses, (two solar and three lunar) during 2013.
