PHOENIX -- Daniel Hudson continues to make progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and the right-hander appears to be a bit ahead of schedule.

Hudson had the surgery last July and was expected to be out until around the All-Star break this year, but it seems possible that he could return closer to the earlier part of July.

Hudson pitched in an extended spring game on Thursday, and he will do so again next Wednesday. It's possible he could then head out on a rehabilitation assignment.

"Just depends on how I bounce back," Hudson said. "It's just day by day at this point. Just see how I feel and go from there. There's really no set schedule, except for when I'm supposed to throw. And if need an extra day, we'll take an extra day, or if I need an extra five days, we'll take an extra five days."
