<p>Opinion by Hull Daily Mail columnist Angus Young, who wonders whether a plan to dig up the Holy Grail in Hull could outdo City of Culture rival Leicester and its Richard III relics.</p><p>Freedom has finished for another year, now the countdown is on for the verdict on Hull's City of Culture bid. If last weekend was anything to go by, we've got more than a fighting chance of landing the title for 2017.</p><p>My own theory is that instead of the current four-strong shortlist to mull over, the judges only really have two cities to choose between.</p><p>A vote for Dundee would simply be too politically risky with the issue of Scottish independence still unresolved. Consider the scenario of an Alex Salmond-led charge towards independence being backed in next year's referendum. If that happened, could anywhere north of the border really claim to the UK's City of Culture beyond 2014 and could any Westminster-based politician sanction such a title? Probably not.
