<p>The groundbreaking for the IBM Service Center in downtown Baton Rouge will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 26.</p><p>The ceremonial event will actually be held at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on Lafayette Street, a few blocks down the street from where the IBM office will be built. The groundbreaking was moved to the Capitol Center to accommodate the expected turnout, especially in case of bad weather, said Lauren Hatcher, a spokeswoman for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.</p><p>IBM is set to open its offices in downtown Baton Rouge in spring 2015. About 800 people are expected to work in the building, which will be on the former site of The Advocate site on Lafayette, bordered by North and Main streets. An 11-story residential tower, with 95 apartments and nine luxury townhomes, will also be part of the development. The residential units will be completed by summer or fall 2015.
